The purpose of CARES\u2019 presence at conferences sponsored by SIGARCH and SIGMICRO is threefold.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>By shining a light on this issue, we wish to raise awareness so as to deter violations of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acm.org\/special-interest-groups\/volunteer-resources\/officers-manual\/policy-against-discrimination-and-harassment\">ACM\u2019s Policy Against Discrimination and Harassment<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acm.org\/publications\/policies\/plagiarism-overview\">ACM Policy on Plagiarism, Misrepresentation, and Falsification<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acm.org\/publications\/policies\/coercion-and-abuse\">Policy on Coercion and Abuse in the ACM Publication Process<\/a>. We encourage all attendees to uphold these policies.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>If there are any alleged violations of the policy (which we hope won\u2019t occur), CARES members serve as a support resource\u2014to listen empathetically, be a helpful sounding board, and provide reporting options to anyone who raises concerns about alleged incidents\u2014we do so without making a judgement call as adjudicating such matters is outside of our scope.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>We wish to promote openness and inclusiveness.\u00a0Our computer architecture conferences should be \u201csafe places and courageous spaces\u201d for the free exchange of research results and ideas, intellectual discourse, and scholarly interactions.\u00a0As such, CARES members encourage everyone in attendance at our conferences to broaden their networks and be accessible to our diverse community of scholars, and be especially open and welcoming to our more junior colleagues (e.g., students).\u00a0We\u00a0<em>CARE<\/em>, and we hope the importance of this issue will inspire and encourage everyone in attendance at ASPLOS\u201923 also to\u00a0<em>care<\/em>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>For this year\u2019s ASPLOS, three CARES members, Joel Emer, Natalie Enright Jerger, and Shan Lu, are on site to chat and interact with attendees.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During every coffee break, one of the CARES members will host the CARES:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-stripes\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Monday, March 27:<\/strong><\/td><td>10:00-10:20<\/td><td>Shan Lu<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><\/td><td>14:40-15:00<\/td><td>Shan Lu<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Tuesday, March 28:<\/strong><\/td><td>10:00-10:20<\/td><td>Joel Emer<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><\/td><td>15:20-15:40<\/td><td>Natalie Enright Jerger<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Wednesday, March 29:<\/strong><\/td><td>10:00-10:20<\/td><td>Joel Emer<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>At the business meeting on March 27<sup>th<\/sup>, CARES members will offer a presentation and discussion about ACM\u2019s recent effort in refining its investigation disclosure policy and soliciting community feedback on this critical issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All attendees are welcome to come by and chat with us during the above CARES table hours and throughout the conference.&nbsp;&nbsp;We hope everyone will have an enjoyable ASPLOS\u201923 conference experience!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Email contact info:&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:emer@csail.mit.edu\">emer@csail.mit.edu<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:enright@ece.utoronto.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">enright@ece.utoronto.ca<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:shanlu@uchicago.edu\">shanlu@uchicago.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SIGARCH\/SIGMICRO CARES&nbsp;is a subcommittee of SIGARCH and SIGMICRO.
