{"id":2742,"date":"2021-11-10T04:09:50","date_gmt":"2021-11-10T09:09:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/asplos-conference.org\/?page_id=2742"},"modified":"2023-02-19T22:57:44","modified_gmt":"2023-02-20T03:57:44","slug":"call-for-waci","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/asplos-conference.org\/call-for-waci\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for WACI"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Wild and Crazy Ideas (WACI) session is a time-honored tradition at ASPLOS that frees researchers from the shackles of realism, removes the blinders of short-term thinking, and opens the scientific mind to uncharted frontiers. Since 1998, WACI has provided a counterweight to the conservative impulses wrought by the traditional peer review path.<br>This is your moment to propose something huge\u2014something no one else is talking about. Craft a talk that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Falls within the ASPLOS purview.<\/strong>&nbsp;Your idea should combine elements of at least two of architecture, programming languages, and operating systems.<\/li><li><strong>Is not (yet) publishable research.<\/strong>&nbsp;Propose something neither you nor anyone else in the community is actually working on\u2014for example, because it seems only barely feasible, because it requires thinking far into the future, because it strays into intellectual domains too far from core ASPLOS expertise, or because it directly contradicts the conventional wisdom.<\/li><li><strong>Might change the world.<\/strong>&nbsp;Your idea must be enormous. Unshackle your ambition.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Ideas may also be funny\u2014we encourage it!\u2014but we think ideas are funniest when they build on an element of real, world-changing, convention-challenging research thought.<br>This year, we\u2019re soliciting submissions as short videos. Think of this as a low-fi, beta-quality teaser for what your real, on-stage talk would be like. Upload a video\u00a0<strong>at most 5 minutes in length<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/fPSLyz9tGwe3o8E68\" target=\"_blank\">the submission form<\/a> by <s>Feb 15<\/s> <strong>Feb 22 (AoE)<\/strong>.
