You will find here an overview of the national measures, rules and bans in place on the basis of the epidemic that currently applyin Switzerland.

Note: “Comirnaty” (BioNTech) vaccine is the correct option to select on the Swiss certificate application form in case people have the Pfizer US vaccine.

Swiss COVID Test Sites

COVID Restrictions

The Swiss government has removed the majority of COVID restrictions as of February 17, 2022. Vaccine passes are no longer required in public spaces. Wearing masks is still required in public transport, but masks are no longer required in public places, including shops and restaurants.

The ASPLOS’22 organizing committee has decided to continue requiring vaccination for attendance and recommends wearing masks for all attendees throughout the event as originally planned for safety measures.

However, as a result of the lifted restrictions, attendees will no longer be required to sit at tables during the coffee breaks and session chairs and presenters can remove their masks.

Conference Venue

ASPLOS 2022 will be held in the Swiss Tech Convention Center near the campus of EPFL in Lausanne. You can reach EPFL via the M1 metro line from “Lausanne Flon” or by bus. Check the SBB Mobile App for schedules (see “Public Transportation” below). Hotels in Lausanne provide a free transit card at the reception desk for travel in and around the city.

Hotels

ASPLOS 2022 has negotiated a special rate with three hotels (two including breakfast)  in Lausanne: The Alpha-Palmiers Hotel in downtown Lausanne, the Starling Hotel next to EPFL Campus, and the Swisstech Hotel on EPFL Campus. Because of lower-than-expected occupancy, you may find rates even lower on the hotel website (without the “Promotion Code”) or on other platforms. Please check the rates carefully before making reservations.

The rooms are blocked until January 25, 2022 at the specified rates.

Transportation

By plane/train

Genève-Cointrin (GVA) is the nearest airport (40 – 60 minutes).

Zürich Airport (ZRH) is located 2.5 hours by train.

The Swiss railroad (SBB CFF FFS – German / French / Italian) leaves from both airports and will take you quickly to Lausanne. There are 2-4 trains per hour from each airport. The SBB Mobile App or (the SBB Web portal) displays train schedules and enables quick online ticket purchases.

Please note that taxis and Uber are very expensive in Switzerland and public transportation is frequent and reliable (though not inexpensive), so it is preferable (see “Public Transportation” below).

Other possible airports include Paris and Lyon in France and Milan in Italy. From these airports, you can take a train to Lausanne and get access to your hotel either on foot (Alpha-Palmiers Hotel) or by public transportation (Swisstech Hotel and Starling Hotel).

Public Transportation
